Home: Wrought Iron Rectangular Shaped Pendulum Clock
Notes about wrought iron rectangular shaped pendulum clock* Longcase clocks always need to stand on a level surface. This sounds basic but it of great importance. When placing the clock flush against the wall you may realize that the floor covering or rug thickness is not uniform. Or maybe the floor itself is uneven where it meets the wall. If the clock is leaning in one direction or the other you have to compensate for it. * Longcase Clock Pendulums have distinct front and back sides. The front is ordinarily the the side that is polished and flat. The pendulum and bob must swing free without touching the sides of the case. If it comes into contact with the case maybe it means that the case lists to one side. * The block of weights that supply power to the clock should be free of the pendulum. They should not be touching the pendulum or the clocks sides when they descend. * When you start up the pendulum check it out for a steady tick sound. The ticking sounds should be occuring regularly. If the ticking sound is irregular it might be because the clock is not placed on a level surface. Try straightening out the case and make changes as needed. * When you correct the time avoid moving the clock hands back more than just a few minutes. Dont ever move them towards the back by the mid day mark. You can safely run the clock hands forwards. When shifting across the number twelve hold on until your clock has completed striking the hour before you move on. * If your clock runs fast or slow modify the linear dimensions of the pendulum. Add to the pendulums length to decrease the speed of the clock. Shorten the pendulum to make the clock go faster. If you find it difficult to set up the clock get help from the dealer. Bask In the atmosphere of elegance the grandfather clock imparts to your home!
