* A grandfather clock should always be placed on a surface that is horizontal. This is elementary but it is very important.
When placing the longcase clock against the wall you might perhaps find out that the carpet or other covering thickness is not the same everywhere. Or it may be that the floor itself is uneven where it meets the wall.
If the case lists towards any side it is essential to bring it back to vertical.

You can safely turn the clock hands forwards. When moving past the twelve mark hold back till the grandfather clock has finished striking the hour before moving on.
* If your longcase clock runs slow or fast vary the length of the pendulum arrangement.
Add to the pendulums length to step down the pace. Trim back the pendulum length to make the clock go faster.
