Home: Howard Miller Clocks And Coastal Point Clock
Fact sheet on howard miller clocks and coastal point clock* A grandfather clock work fine only if they are set up on an even level surface. This sounds uncomplicated but it is quite critical. When adjusting its position in front of the wall you may find out that the floor covering thickness is irregular. Or perhaps the flooring is non uniform at the wall. If the case leans to one side or the other you must get it standing straight. * Longcase Clock Pendulums have distinct front and back sides. The pendulum face is in most cases the the side that is polished and more or less flat. The pendulum of the clock remain free of the sides of the case. If it collides with the case maybe it means that the surface on which it rests is not level. * The block of weights that actuate the mechanism should stand free of impediments. They should not come into contact with the pendulum or the clock casing as they come down. * When you set off the pendulum swinging check it out for a steady ticking sound. The tick tocks should be stable and regular. If it is not steady that could be because the case leans a bit to one side. Try to level the surface and make changes as needed. * When altering the time do not shift the grandfather clock hands rearwards more than a few minutes. And never run them towards the back over the number twelve. You can safely shift the hands forwards. When running them over the twelve mark wait until your antique clock is done with sounding the hour before going on. * If the clock runs fast or slow decrease or increase the length of the pendulum. Make it longer to diminish the clock speed. Shorten the length to to quicken the clock. If you are having trouble setting up the clock ask for help from the dealer. Savor the air of elegance the grandfather clock imparts to your interiors!
